Gilmour 999TD1 Extra Large Coverage Sprinkler Review

Gilmour 999TD1

Gilmour 999TD1

As I’ve now bought my extremely powerful and brilliant Wayne PLS 100 Sprinkler Pump in order to power the water from the river running down the side of my garden to my lawn, all i needed now was a sufficient lawn sprinkler to actually spread the water around nice and evenly and all hands free.

I took a detailed look at some of the bigger beasts available and finally I settled for the Gilmour 999TD1 Extra Large Coverage Sprinkler with Adjustable Tripod Base! Here is my review of the product!

What Is The Gilmour 999TD1 Large Coverage Sprinkler?

- Three leg tripod sprinkler, can stand up to 58 inches tall.

- Spiked feet for added stability.

- Long lasting metal head construction.

- Extra large water jet for 50% more coverage.

- Can water up to 8500 square feet.

What Can The Gilmour 999TD1 Do?

Put simply it can water very large areas. For crops, parkland, or more fitting for your garden if it’s very large.

What To Consider When Looking For A Sprinkler?

- How large an area needs coverage.

- The length of hose you’ll be using.

I shall now explain the above two points in relation to the Gilmour 999TD1.

How Large An Area Needs Coverage

This is really quite simple and something I’m sure you’ve already considered. If you have a small area you need watering then don’t get this! The Gilmour 999TD1 is the beast of all sprinklers!

If however you have acres then invest in one of these bad boys. It can easily reach a radius of 50 foot and that’s without even extending the tripod legs to their full height.

The length of hose you’ll be using.

This is an issue that can easily be overlooked! I myself use the Gilmour 999TD1, well 3 actually, to water my lawn and vegetables. I get free access to water via the river running down the side of my crops. Now the far side of my lawn is a good 3 minute walk from the river, that’s a lot of hose. The only way I can power the water flow, maintaining decent pressure is by using a pretty powerful sprinkler pump. The pump I use is the Wayne PLS100! I’m able to get the power needed to water everything I need with very little trouble!

This is something you should keep in mind as the longer the hose, the more pressure you’re sure to lose and if you’re using something like the Gilmour 999TD1 then it’s a fair bet that you’ve got a pretty large area to cover. One more thing to consider is that if your hose is running up any hills then this is further going to decrease the pressure you’ll get.

How Much Should You Expect To Pay?

Having looked around for the best deals, you’re able to find it from online shopping sites for around $119! However the cheapest place I’ve found the Gilmour 999TD1 is Amazon!

What Others Are Saying

- For the price it is a quality product!

- It arrived within 3 days. I tried it out and it was perfect.

- Great coverage and a good design.

- The tripod adjusts and the spray is adjustable.

- I bought the Gilmour extra large coverage sprinkler, and I could NOT be happier.

- This sprinkler is not only efficient and much less expensive, it is movable–I can carry it into my back yard when I want to water that area!!!

- Hey, this is a good buy. I bought two of them for my wife’s horse arena.

- I ordered two of these units to use on an acre lot I just cleared and seeded. They are more expensive than other sprinklers but have a minimum of cheap plastic parts. I have used them for a month now and they are doing the job splendidly.

Any Complaints?

One reviewer was worried about the plastic spikes to stick the tripod in the ground, but he had to admit that they seemed to be holding up no problem.

A couple of people have mentioned the fact that you’ll need to purchase separately a rubber washer to attach the hose to the sprinkler to avoid leakage!

Where Can You Buy The Gilmour 999TD1 Extra Large Coverage Sprinkler?

The best place to purchase the Gilmour 999TD1 Extra Large Coverage Sprinkler really would have to be Amazon, that’s when looking around and comparing all other online retailers.
